Uto Balmoral
"I don't believe in design. I believe in ideas." Uto Balmoral is not me. Uto Balmoral is a provocatively created character intended to be a product itself, a project of the designer. The idea stems from a personal consideration of the concept of "Designer as a Brand." The awareness of this phenomenon gave rise, with declared irony, to the new character Uto. Uto defines his own image starting from the denial of himself in a play of particular balances between the will/necessity to appear and to hide. The guiding thread of Uto's work is the simple necessity to communicate, to provoke, to generate something in the audience, to force a smile, to provoke thought, to trigger a reaction, in order to initiate a process that goes beyond aesthetic sense and functionality, thus centering the main purpose of his work. First of all, objects communicate; they are places where a clear message can be found.
